So, I set up my donation site last night: endurance.themmrf.org/MMyRide/Forbesfam. I was thrilled to see, when I logged in this morning, that I had already gotten two donations!!!
I want to thank the two people who got the ball (or wheel in this case) rolling for me! It is funny how from the time I was selling things to raise money for school trips, to now, my Mom has always been one of the first people to sign on...Now I just need to get the rest of my friends, family, and acquaintances to buy in. The good news is that there is not a goose egg in my donation column anymore!
I have decided to collect of list on names of people who are either fighting MM or have lost their battle, and carry them with me as I train and eventually ride in the event. It will be my way of giving tribute to them. If you have any names you want me to include, please let me know and I will add them to my list. Depending on how many I get, I want to put them all on one of the Jerseys that I will wear while I ride.
Next step is to begin to kick the donation campaign into high gear. I want to see if I can get to $10,000....
I also need to buy a bike. I don't think riding my mountain bike 500 miles will be too comfortable. I am leaning toward either a Specialized or a Cannondale, only because those are the mountain bike brands that I ride.
I hope to make this blog interactive, so if you have suggestions or comments, please chime in! I will keep you posted on my shopping progress!
I am going to begin my training on my spin bike for now...I may also take my fat tire bike out for a spin in the snow (while we still have it). I will post pics as I get them.
For now, I am going to finish my day at work, and then head to the mountains to ski for the weekend (Cross-training).
Have a great weekend!
